Today gubernotorial elections is taking place in 26 states, with the exception of Kaduna and Bauchi (For security reasons) and Bayelsa, Cross River, Kogi, Adamawa and Sokoto (Tenure extension till 2012.)

Also, elections will not hold in Ondo, Ekiti, Osun because the governors of these states won their appeals against their opponent who were adjudged by the courts to have being sworn in illegally having not now the member of votes, according to the constitution-in Anambra, the incumbent governor will serve his second term till 2014.

The 1999 constitution of Nigeria provides that for each state of the federation, there shall be a governor and such person shall be the chief executive of the state.

This means the executive governor of any state of the Nigerian federation is the state chief decision-maker and by interpretation therefore, the most powerful person in the state.

Voting has commenced.

Kano/Nigeria-Low turnout of voters across the city of Kano amid minimal security presence.

Enugu/Nigeria-Shops are open for business at Amechi Awkunanaw although there is large turnout of voters.

IN AKWA IBOM, HOLY CHILD PRIMARY SCH. POLING UNIT, ETIP EDIENE, WOMEN ARE TAKEN TO ONE ROOM, MARK FINGERS AND PAYED 250 NAIRA, AND TOLD TO GO HOME, THEN ALL VOTES FLUSHED TO PDP.
