British Council Nigeria 2011 Creative Enterprise Programme, Kano-Participants Recruitment: Jobs in Nigeria February 2011

The British Council in Nigeria is looking for participants for the Creative Enterprise Programme in Kano.

What Does The Programme Contain?
Creative Enterprise Programme is a project of training, mentoring and networking across the Creative Industries designed to help equip talented creative people with the skills they need to turn their creativity into an income stream.

The programme’s vision is to be Africa’s most respected and effective scheme for developing aspiring creative entrepreneurs.
The creative industry is one of the UK’s success stories. It generates around 7.5% of our GDP, employing close to 2 million people and growing at over double the rate of our wider economy.

We want to affect the lives of many young Africans for the better, and take the most creative and most able on a journey that will radically improve not only their own life prospects, but their ability to act as forces of positive change within their own countries.
The partners that we work with have a vested interest in fostering the next generation of creative producers and consumers across Africa and we are working with them to achieve this.

The benefits that participants on the programme derive vary from being given the first steps in training to fill the skills-gaps that can hold them back, to having increased access to culture and cultural skills (derived through the implementation of new practices, learning and enhanced networks), to opening up opportunities to more effectively or lucratively exploit their creativity.
Not only the participants of the project stand to gain – stakeholders, audiences, clients and customers and potential employees of the participants will benefit from the opportunities that arise as a result of the increased capacity in the sector fostered by the Creative Enterprise Programme.
