NAFDAC Shortlisted Applicants List and Test Dates, 2011 Recruitment

The importance of food and drugs to a man and animal is very obvious. They need food in order to grow and sustain life while life goes on, and because of the inherent disposition to illness, the organs of the body may not always function properly.

These situations of ill health provide the compelling need for drugs in order to modify the functioning of the body and restore it to normal. To be acceptable, the drug must not be deleterious to the body but should rather produce positive effect, which leads to restoration of normal life. In like manner, cosmetics, should have no harmful effect on the body to which they are applied.

It is the duty of all government to protect the health of the citizens, and in Nigeria this is the responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Health. Within the Ministry and until 31st December 1992, these responsibilities as regards foods and drugs devolved on the Department of Food and Drugs Administration and Control, (FDAC) Department and were inevitably linked with the normal bureaucratic ministerial positions which are manifested in:

NAFDAC RECRUITMENT EXERCISE SHORTLISTED APPLICANTS

NAFDAC has released the list of shortlisted applicants for the NAFDAC Recruitment Exercise and aptitude test to take place onSaturday 3rd Sept, 2011 at the

Lagos Center : Unity Secondary & Junior High School, Oshodi, Lagos, (After Oshodi Bus Stop), Along Oshodi Isolo Expressway.

Abuja Center: Government Secondary School Tudunwada, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja

You are requested to come with the following to your examination center

1. Curriculum Vitae and copies of your credentials.2. Photocopy of page where your name appeared online.

3. Means of Identification (National I.D, International Passport or Driver’s License)

4. 2 recent passport photographs.

5. Writing materials (Pen, Pencil and Eraser)

N.B

1. Candidates are expected to be at their NAFDAC examination centers one hour before schedule time for accreditation and verification.

2. Loitering around the examination centers before your scheduled time will not be tolerated.

The Nigeria Pharmacovigilance Programme is coordinated by the National Pharmacovigilance Centre (NPC) which is located in NAFDAC and collaborates with the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) and other national centers worldwide. NPC is responsible for monitoring the safety of all medicines in Nigeria. The National Pharmacovigilance Centre will be assisted as the case requires by a National Advisory Committee comprising of experts from various fields of healthcare.The National Pharmacovigilance Centre is responsible for providing reporting forms, collecting, evaluating and communicating the findings from ADR reports to the management of NAFDAC, who may communicate same to council for ratification.

NAFDAC uses the findings from the reports for making regulatory decisions on how to prevent or minimise the risk of ADRs in Nigeria. NAFDAC, through the National Pharmacovigilance Centre, may communicate their findings, recommendations and directives to appropriate organisations or individuals. These include, but are not limited to health professionals, pharmaceutical manufacturers, public health programmes within the Federal and State Ministries of Health, other public and private health institutions, the media and the public.
