NYSC 2012 BATCH A REGISTRATION, FOREIGN TRAINED NIGERIAN GRADUATES ORIENTATION

This is to inform all foreign trained Nigerian graduates that the registration for the 2012 batch 'A' orientation course starts on 12th December 2011 and ends on 15th February 2012. As we welcome you back to Nigeria, it is important that you take note of the following vital information, which will assist to make your registration fast and less stressful:

A. REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION

All prospective corps members who obtained their first degrees or Higher National Diplomas outside Nigeria must present the following.

(i) International Nigerian travelling passport which must indicate when you departed Nigeria and when you arrived. The passport must also carry the student entry visa. In a situation where one has more than one International passport, both passports should be brought for the purpose of Evaluation, and those with dual nationality should come along with both Nigerian passport and that country's passport where he/she nationalised

(ii) Original West African School Certificate (WASC/NECO) or High School Diploma (for those who schooled in USA) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) or its equivalent with atleast 5 credits in 2 sittings including English and Mathematics . Please note that all those who do not meet these requirements would be referred to Federal Ministry of Education for evaluation. All those who are still carrying statement of result should obtain the original certificates before they can be attended to.

(iii) First Degree Certificate or statement of result indicating that you have been awarded the degree. All those with letters of attestation stating that they have completed their studies without indicating that they have actually passed and the degree awarded to them should not bother to come forward for registration.

(iv) Detailed original transcript or mark sheet (for those who graduated in India) of the first degree showing all the courses undertaken and the scores obtained.

(v) All Medical Doctors or Optometrists must show evidence that they have completed their housemanship or internship and registered with the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council or Nigeria Optometrists Association of Nigeria

(vi) All graduates of pharmacy must show evidence of registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.

B. THOSE WITH CERTIFICATES AND TRANSCRIPTS NOT WRITTEN IN ENGLISH

It is the responsibility of all graduates who studied in non-English speaking countries and those whose certificates and transcripts were not written in English to ensure that they get their certificates and transcripts translated into English by approved translators in Universities or embassies.

C. MARRIED WOMEN

All married women have the priviledge to be posted to states where their husbands reside. Also persons with terminal ailment are entitled to be posted to states where their Medical Doctors reside to enable them continue with their medication. However, to enjoy this privilege, all married women must provide the following during registration:

(i) marriage certificate

(ii) evidence of change of name

(iii) evidence of husbands place of residence

For those with terminal ailments, they must provide a medical evidence to back their claim.

D. DEPLOYMENT

Please be informed that the NYSC does not charge any fee for deployment to states where you will serve. However, you do not have a choice of a state where you would be deployed.

E. EXEMPTION FROM SERVICE

Only those who, at the time of graduation, are

(i) above 30 years old

(ii) members of the Nigeria armed forces

(iii) members of Nigeria police force

(iv) members of the state security services

(v) members of the Nigeria security organisation or

(vi) have been given the National Honours Award are qualified for exemption.

Please note that registration is not done by proxy. All prospective corps members must therefore appear physically at Evaluation Division of Corps Mobilisation Department to register.
