Cedarcrest Hospitals / Cedarcrest Orthopaedic Clinics Ltd is a modern specialist medical care centre located in the heart of Abuja, Nigeria’s blossoming capital. It was established in January 2008 with the aim of providing a high standard of local healthcare that is comparable with what obtains in other more developed parts of the world.
The centre started off as a highly specialized orthopaedic facility, registered as Cedarcrest Orthopaedic Clinics Ltd. Before long, it became obvious that other specialties had to be incorporated partly due to the success of the centre and partly due to the lack of local specialist services in those specialties that relate directly with orthopaedic and trauma surgery.
Its core specialty areas have now been expanded to include neuro/spine surgery, plastic/reconstructive surgery and dermatology. Thus was Cedarcrest Hospitals born in early 2009. The hospital also renders non-core specialist services covering internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, radiology, rheumatology, ear nose and throat surgery, dietetics, physiotherapy and general practice.
These key specialists are supported by highly trained and courteous doctors, nurses, imaging scientists, laboratory scientists, administrative and ancillary staff who strive to make patients’ experience at Cedarcrest is as pleasant as possible.
We work in liaison with centres in the United Kingdom and the United States and frequently have visiting surgeons from these foreign hospitals, as well as sending patients to these centres where specific facilities for their care are not optimal here. We are also supported by a wide range of related specialties and specialist services.
With adequate facilities and highly skilled manpower, Cedarcrest Hospitals has, over the last two years, provided specialized treatment to a large number of patients from the federal capital and the rest of Nigeria. This has made it possible for patients to get timely highly specialized surgical treatment without the need to travel abroad.
Trainees Jobs in Cedarcrest Hospitals, Abuja
Cedarcrest Hospitals, Abuja hereby requests applications from suitably qualified medicaldoctors for three and six month temporary fellowship appointments as trainees in orthopaedic surgery. This hospital is located in the heart of the federal capital and is a foremost centre for modem image guided orthopaedic surgery and traumatology. Trainee fellowships will generally last for three or six months, however, trainees willing to stay for a short period of training of one month can apply.
Trainees In Orthopaedic Surgery
Trainees will be expected to participate in the surgical management of patients in all subspecialties and work with internationally trained orthopaedic surgeons. They will be exposed to the following procedures:
In addition to the core orthopaedic areas above. trainees will also be exposed to neurosurgical and plastic surgical procedures as follows:
1. Neurosurgery
- Brain trauma management
- Brain tumour surgery
- Contemporary management of stroke
- Decompressive craniotomies and evacuations of intracerebral hematoma “Hydrocephalus and spina bifida management
2. Plastic surgery
- Liposuction
- Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
- Abdominoplasty and mesh ventral hernia repair
- Breast reduction and breast augmentation surgeries
- Breast lift
- Scar revisions
Trainees will be provided accommodation and a stipend for the period of the training.

1. Must be fully registered medical practitioners
2. Must have commenced post graduate training in orthopaedic surgery in a post graduate college approved institution
3. Must have passed the Part 1 Fellowship Examination
4. Must possess an NYSC discharge certificate, or valid exemption as the case may be.
