Job Title: Accountant

The Role

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Accountant in our Head Office and will be responsible for preparing timely and quality accounting reports, back up accounting figures with relevant schedules and also manage a small team of subordinates in order to achieve departmental goals.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have (or meet ) the following:

§ Minimum of B.SC degree, second class honours (lower division) in Accounting or related courses

At least 3 years experience in a large manufacturing organization

Professional qualification (ACCA or ACA) is a major advantage

Ability to use Advanced Excel Package, MS Word and PowerPoint will be an advantage

Evidence of having participated in the NYSC Scheme or Exemption

Not more than 40 years as at 1st January, 2011

Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc (CCNN) was founded by the Premier of the then Northern Region, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto. It was incorporated in 1962 and commenced production in 1967 with an initial installed capacity of 100,000 tonnes per annum, using the wet process of production, at the Kalambaina Plant. The need to meet the increasing demand for cement necessitated the expansion of the Plant with the commissioning of a Second line with an installed capacity of 500,000 tonnes per annum in 1985, by the then Head of state, Major General Muhammadu Buhari. Thereafter, in 1986, the first line was shut down due to its uneconomic mode of operation, thus leaving the plant with a rated out put of 500,000 tonnes per annum.

Under the privatization and commercialization programme of the Babangida Administration in 1992, the Federal Government disinvested about 20% of its holding in the company and sold it to Nigerian public.

Under the civilian administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc was earmarked as one of the companies to be fully privatized. In July 2000 therefore, public bidding for the Company was concluded and Scancem International ANS of Norway, a member of HeidelbergCement group was appointed as core investor and technical partner of the Company. Following a strategic reorientation, Heidelberg Cement Group divested its CCNN Shares in March 2008. The Nigerian Company Damnaz Cement Company Limited became CCNN’s new core investor. Damnaz Cement Company Limited (Damnaz) was established in May 2007 as a ‘special purpose vehicle” to acquire HeidelbergCement’s 50.7% shares of CCNN and 93% share of Societe Nigerienne de Cimenterie (SNC) in Republic of Niger. It acquired the shares in both CCNN and SNC in March 2008.

Cement Company of Northern Plc (CCNN) is a public quoted company engaged in the manufacture and sale of Portland cement. Its factory is located at Kaduna on the Outskirt of sokoto town.

Qualification:

Work Experience

• At least 12 years experience in accounting field which much include:

Skils/Expectations:

• Perform reporting, budgeting and other accounting functions professionally and accurately

Skills/Expectations

• Ability to perform effectively the following functions/have the following skills

• Preparation of basic financial statements – balance sheet, income statement & cash flow
• Working with external auditors and resolving issues arising from auditors observations
• Relationship with financial institution in a professional manner
• Foreign exchange transactions

Working throughout Africa and the Middle East SOS Children Villages is the process of recruiting dynamic individuals to guide and support the work with individual families participating in our programme in Jos (Zawan), Kaduna and Ibadan. This programme aims to strengthen the capacity of families and communities, so that that they are able to effectively protect and care for their children.

Family Strengthening Manager: Jos (Zawan), Kaduna and Ibadan
As Family Strengthening Manager you ill be responsible for leading the planning implementation, monitoring & evaluation of the family strengthening programme.

The Challenge
Ensure effective implementation of plans – building & supporting the development of sustainable community responses to the situation of children at risk of losing parental care
Ensure that those children who are most at risk participate in the programme
Guild & support the building of self-reliance in families.
Building a strong programme team implement required administrative systems, as well as monitoring and evaluation systems

Your Profile
A degree (or equivalent) in development studies, social work , public administration, social sciences or other relevant subject
At least 3 years experience in community development or social services. Management experience an added advantage
Experience in project management, monitoring & evaluation
An understanding of relevant social development issues
Excellent command of the English language and good verbal and ritten communication skills fluency in one or more of the kanguage of the target community(ies)
Basic financial management skills
Basic computer skills (windows, word, excel)
A valid drive license (or learning to drive)
Highly organised, able to work independently, use initative and keep commitments

Field Officer: Lagos (Ejigbo), Jos (Zawan)
As a Field Officer, you will be responsible for leading the initial assessment of families being considered to participate in the programme

The Challenge
Facilitate the preparation of the families first development plans
Support co-workers of community-based partner organisations in their work with families
Support the delivery of support services by the programme
Support monitoring & evaluation.
Perform other specialist roles that maybe assigned to you by you Line Manager

Your Profile
A degree (or equivalent) in development social work , social sciences or other relevant subject
At least 1 year experience in community development or social services
An understanding of issues facing orphans & vulnerable children
Fluency in one or more of the language of the target community(ies)
Basic computer skills (windows, word, excel).
Positive & professional approach: organised, able to work independently and keep commitments
